Box Pattern For Paper Or Cardstock

1. Cut flat box along outside lines.

2. Optional step: Score the paper or cardstock. Scoring is the act of making a slight indent in paper or cardstock to create precise, straight folds. The lines of the box can be scored by placing a ruler or other object with a straight edge along the lines, and then slightly pressing a pointed stick or other narrow-ended tool into the paper or cardstock, and finally, drawing the scoring tool along the edge of the ruler or other object.

3. Fold along lines.

4. Apply glue to tabs (narrow strips with angled corners along sides) or use adhesive tape to assemble the box.

5. To make a box with no visible printed lines, fold the box with the printed lines inside the box.

Boxes can be printed on colored paper or colors and patterns can be made on the paper, and boxes can be stacked to make walls, buildings, and other structures suggested by imagination. Toy building blocks can be made by writing the letters of the alphabet and numbers on the sides of the boxes, and the toy building blocks can be arranged to spell words. Colored crayons, felt tip markers, and colored pencils can be used.
