Little Things
Oh, it’s just the little, homely things,
The unobtrusive, friendly things,
The “Won’t-you-let-me-help-you” things
That make the pathway light.
And it’s just the jolly, joking things,
The “Laugh-with-me-it’s-funny” things,
The “Never-mind-the-trouble” things
That make our world seem bright.
For all the countless, famous things,
The wondrous, record-breaking things,
Those never-can-be-equaled things
That all the papers cite,
Can’t match the little, human things,
The “Just-because-I-like-you” things,
Those “Oh-it’s-simply-nothing” things,
That make us happy, quite.
So here’s to all the little things,
The everyday encountered things,
The “Smile-and-face-your-trouble” things,
“Trust God to put it right,”
The done-and-then-forgotten things,
The “Can’t-you-see-I-love-you!” things,
The hearty “I-am-with-you!” things
That make life worth the fight.

I received a bookmark with this poem on it. This was on the early 70's I believe. I wanted to know more about Grace Haines but couldn't find anything. Anyone?
James P. Bloxsom - I can't believe you wrote this - exactly my own thought. I received that same bookmark in the early 70s, kept it for decades and somehow, it is nowhere to be found. Have searched for this poem forEVER and so happy to finally have found it, after infinite Google searches. I, too, would like to know more about Grace Haines; oddly enough, when this popped up - I immediately recognized her name as the one!!!
I purchased a vintage wooden box at a sale with this poem attached to the inside lid. I Googled to find the full poem and more of the writing
Hello! I would love to include this poem Little Things by Grace Hines at the end of a book I am writing. Can you give me any information on copyright permission? I need to find out asap please. THANKS!!
