How To Make Fairy Bread
Ingredients
□ Sliced fresh white bread
□ Butter slightly softened by keeping at room temperature for a short time
□ 100s and 1000s* or sprinkles
Implements
□ Plate
□ Spreader or butter knife
Instructions
1. Spread softened butter on bread.
2. Pour 100s and 1000s* or sprinkles onto plate.
3. Gently press buttered side of bread into them.
4. Cut Fairy Bread into triangles if desired.
5. Serve.
*100s and 1000s are round, ball-shaped sprinkles.
Make Fairy Bread no more than a couple of hours before serving to ensure bread remains fresh.
Leaving the crusts on bread will make it easier for people to handle, and it will also be easier to make.
Bread slices can be shaped into circles, hearts, trees, stars, and more using cookie cutters.
Margarine, peanut butter, cream cheese, sour cream, Greek yogurt, and other spreadables can be tried in place of dairy butter.
Fairy Bread originated in the Australian island state of Tasmania, and has become a traditional birthday party treat.
We have not been able to confirm if the knowledge of how to make Fairy Bread was a gift from the fairies.
