“Norman had gone to a shoe store on its Grand Opening Day. Due to the crowd of bargain-hunting shoppers that had shown up, the store was busy and somewhat noisy. They happened to be out of stock of the type of shoes Norman wanted, but a harried clerk said that they would have more in stock soon. Norman told the clerk he would like to place an order and have the shoes mailed to his front door. A few weeks passed, and no new shoes arrived. Then, early on a Saturday morning, Norman heard the sound of hammering at his front door.
