Now let us consider the pros and cons of making a Pros and Cons List . . .
One way to weigh difficult decisions is to make a Pros and Cons List, writing the good points under the word ‘Pros’ meaning ‘In Favor Of’ and the bad points under the word ‘Cons’ meaning ‘Against.’
Example: Jeremiah is trying to decide if he wants to paint his gray car red, so he makes a Pros and Cons List. The ‘pros’ or ‘advantages’ he writes in his list are that his vehicle would be more noticeable to other drivers, possibly leading to a lower risk of vehicular collisions, and that he prefers the color red to the color gray. The ‘cons’ or disadvantages’ he writes are that statistically drivers of red cars are more likely to receive tickets for moving violations such as speeding, and that he would have to be sure the red paint available is a shade he can live with.
