Good Intentions
You know that card you didn’t get,
last week when you were ill?
Well, it was I who didn’t send it,
but I’m thinking of you still.
The day the telephone didn’t ring,
it was I not calling you.
I knew you needed to talk awhile,
but I had so much to do.
The visit that was never made,
when you were feeling low,
That was I who didn’t come,
but I thought about it, you know.
Please forgive me, friend of mine.
This is what I am going to do.
I’ll turn my thoughts to actions,
so you’ll know I care for you.
