Bible ABC’s
A is for the Ark so strong,
Filled with creatures large and small.
When the door was safely shut,
The rain began to fall.
B is for a Baby dear,
In a manger long ago.
And shining angels sang a song
To let the shepherds know.
C is for the Christ Child.
In the Temple, we are told,
He talked to all the wise men
When only twelve years old.
D is for Daniel who prayed all day,
In spite of wicked men.
Because of this, they had him cast
Into the lions’ den.
E is for Esther,
A beautiful maid;
Who, when she was queen,
Her cousin obeyed.
F is for the Fishermen
On Lake Galilee.
Jesus called to them one day,
Saying, ‘Follow Me.’
G is for Gethsemane,
The garden far away.
Where with Peter, James and John,
Jesus went to pray.
H is for Hannah.
We read in God’s Word.
She gave little Samuel,
For life, to the Lord.
I is for Ishmael.
In the desert he lay,
Crying for water,
One hot summer day.
J is for Joseph’s coat,
Of colors bright and gay.
His brothers put him in a pit
And sold him, too, one day.
K is for the Savior King,
Riding joyously one day;
And the children, waving palms,
Scattered flowers in the way.
L is for Lazarus,
Who begged at the gate
For the crumbs that fell
While the rich man ate.
M is for Mary,
Who sat at Jesus’ feet,
While her sister Martha kept
The house all clean and neat.
N is for Nimrod
With spear and with bow,
He hunted fierce lions
In days long ago.
O is for the Ointment sweet
Gentle Mary poured
O’er the tired and dusty feet
Of the blessed Lord.
P is for Peter,
Who sank in the sea
When trying to walk
On dark Galilee
Q is for Questions
Asked long ago
By Nicodemus,
Wanting to know.
R is for Ruth
Who wanted to stay
With her mother, Naomi,
and glean every day.
S is for the heavy Stone
The angel rolled away.
The women came to see the tomb
In which the Savior lay.
T is for the faithful Twelve,
Following the Lord,
Helping Him to do His work,
List’ning to His Word.
U is for Ur,
A land far away
Where Abraham lived
Till God called one day.
V is for the Vineyard
Naboth would not sell.
But it soon was stolen
By Queen Jezebel.
W is for the Wise Men,
Coming from afar
To see the baby Jesus,
Guided by a star.
X is for King Xerxes -
Another name had he.
He chose the noble Esther
His royal queen to be.
Y is for the rich Young Man
Who came to Christ one day.
When he heard what Jesus said,
He sadly walked away.
Z is for Zacchaeus
Who climbed up a tree;
When Jesus was coming,
He wanted to see.
